What LoC or LC Means
LoC, shown as LC on some panels, means the Control Lock is active. Maytag is explicit that this is not an error: with the lock on, the control will not respond to button presses, which is exactly what the feature is for.
Common Causes of LoC or LC
- Control Lock switched on deliberately
- Lock button held accidentally while cleaning the panel
- Child lock enabled and forgotten
- Stuck key holding the lock function on
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Look for the button marked Control Lock, or the one with a padlock symbol, and press and hold it for about three seconds until the indicator goes out. On many Maytag models the lock shares a button with another function, so the label may be printed above or below the key rather than on it. If the lock will not release, unplug the machine for five minutes; the setting is stored, so if it returns immediately after a reset the keypad may have a stuck key.
