Maytag Range Repair

Range Repair, Done Right the First Time

Whether yours is gas or electric, a Maytag range is a set of independent circuits - each surface burner, the bake element, the broil element, the sensor and the control - so a fault in one rarely means the appliance is finished.

Ranges reach us with two kinds of fault. The first is a single dead circuit: one burner, one element, one switch, one relay – straightforward to isolate and usually straightforward to repair. The second is a control complaint, where a code or an unresponsive panel makes the whole appliance look finished when the actual fault is a sensor, a latch switch or a connector that has cooked over years of heat cycling.

We read any stored codes the control offers, then measure the circuit the code points at instead of ordering the part it names – on cooking appliances a sensor code is caused by the wiring to the sensor as often as by the sensor itself. Gas and power are isolated and proven dead before a panel moves, and gas work is left with the technician rather than talked through over the phone.

Common Range Problems

01

Surface burner clicking endlessly without catching

02

Cavity not reaching the set temperature, or badly off it

03

Door locked shut after a self-clean cycle

04

Display showing a fault code and refusing commands

05

One element or burner dead while the rest work normally

06

Knob or touch control that no longer responds

Why Trust Us With Your Maytag Range

  • Measured, Not Guessed | The suspect range component goes on a meter and is shown to have failed before we recommend replacing it.
  • Common range Parts Aboard | The parts that fail most often travel with the technician; anything rarer is ordered on the spot and the return visit booked before we leave.
  • Isolated Before Anything Opens | The supply to your range - power, water or gas - is shut off and proven dead before a panel moves, and high-voltage and sealed-system circuits stay with the technician.
  • Coverage Checked First | Where your range looks like it may still sit inside manufacturer coverage we flag it before quoting, because work by anyone other than an authorized technician can put that coverage at risk.
FAQ

Range Repair FAQ

If you can smell gas at any point, stop, leave the property and call your gas utility from outside. Otherwise turn the burner off, let it cool completely, and check the cap is dry and seated square on its base - a cap sitting crooked or a slot blocked with spill stops ignition on its own. If it still only clicks with everything dry and seated, the electrode, the switch or the spark module needs testing.

Put an oven thermometer on the centre rack and let the cavity settle fully before reading it. A consistent gap points at the temperature sensor, the element or the relay on the control that drives it. Many models allow a calibration offset, but that is a correction for a small drift, not a fix for a failed part.

No. The cavity has to fall below a safety threshold before the latch releases, and that takes time after a self-clean cycle - often well over an hour. If it is cold and still locked, the latch motor, its switch or the control is at fault, and levering the door damages the latch and usually the door itself.

On a coil model a plug-in element is genuinely a homeowner job once the range is off at the breaker and cold. Anything that requires removing the back panel, disturbing wiring, or touching a gas connection is not - those involve live terminals or gas, and both belong with a technician.
