What Add Garment Means
The Add Garment light is a convenience indicator, not a fault. While it is lit, Maytag says you can pause the cycle, open the lid and add items that were missed, then touch and hold START/PAUSE to carry on.

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Press START/PAUSE, add the item, close the lid and touch and hold START/PAUSE again to resume. The window closes once the washer has passed the point where adding laundry would upset the sensing and the fill, so if the light has gone out the machine will not let you in until the cycle ends. Nothing needs fixing here.
