What F0E1 or rL Means
F0E1, shown as rL on some Maytag front-load displays and as F-34 on a few older panels, means the Clean Washer cycle was started with laundry still inside. That cycle runs hot with a tub cleaner and is meant to run empty, so the control stops instead of washing clothes in it.
Common Causes of F0E1 or rL
- Laundry left in the drum when Clean Washer was selected
- An item hidden in the fold of the door boot
- Load-sensing circuit misreading an empty drum
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Open the door and take everything out, checking the fold of the door boot where socks hide. Close the door and restart the Clean Washer cycle empty, adding the tub cleaner or the measure of bleach your manual specifies. If the drum is genuinely empty and the code keeps appearing, the load-sensing circuit is reading weight that is not there, and that is a control-side diagnosis rather than anything to adjust.
