What FC E1, FC E2 or FC E3 Means

Maytag publishes all three of these with the same explanation: the appliance could not connect to the router, possibly because of a connection timeout, poor signal strength, a failed router, the wireless module in the appliance, or its wiring. The published remedy is a one-minute power cycle at the circuit breaker. None of this affects heating.

Common Causes of FC E1, FC E2 or FC E3

  • Router offline, restarting or recently replaced
  • Network credentials changed since pairing
  • Weak signal at the appliance location
  • Wireless module in the appliance faulty

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try

Restart your router and let it come fully back up before doing anything else - it fixes this more often than anything done at the appliance. Then switch the microwave off at its breaker for one minute and restore power. If you use the app, re-run the pairing. Signal strength is worth thinking about too: a microwave in a steel cabinet run, at the far end of the house from the router, is genuinely at the edge of coverage. If you do not use the connected features, this code can be ignored.

⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That

  • None for the network steps - restarting a router and re-pairing an app is ordinary use. The wireless module itself is inside the cabinet, which is never opened at home.

Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
