What F0E2 Means
F0E2 is the numbered version of the suds warning. The washer measured far more foam than the cycle should produce and started its automatic suds-reduction routine. Maytag warns of the side effects rather than a breakage: the load may not rinse fully and water may not spin out properly, so the cycle runs long and the laundry comes out wetter.
Common Causes of F0E2
- Non-HE detergent in a high-efficiency machine
- Too much HE detergent for the load or the water hardness
- Detergent residue built up in the drum
- Heavily soiled load releasing extra foam
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Let the suds-reduction routine run to the end instead of cancelling it. When it finishes, run a Rinse and Spin with no detergent at all to clear what is left in the fabric. From then on, use High Efficiency detergent only, and measure it rather than pouring by eye - the dose on the bottle assumes hard water, so soft-water households need noticeably less. If the code appears even with a correct dose, run the Clean Washer cycle, because detergent residue built up in the drum keeps foaming long after the dosing has been corrected.
