What 1h to 12h Means
A number followed by h - 1h through to 12h - is not an error at all. Maytag documents it as the Delay Wash indicator: the washer is counting down the hours before it starts the cycle you selected.
Common Causes of 1h to 12h
- Delay Wash selected deliberately
- Delay button pressed accidentally when choosing a cycle
- A saved cycle preset that includes a delay
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
If the delay was intentional, leave it; the machine will start on its own when the countdown reaches zero. To cancel it, press PAUSE or CANCEL and then start the cycle normally without selecting a delay. If you keep finding the machine delayed without meaning to, check whether the Delay button sits next to one you use often, since it is easy to catch when selecting a cycle.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- None - Delay Wash is a feature.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
