What F1E4 Means
Maytag gives F1E4 the same attribution as F1E3: there may be an issue with the control unit or the associated wiring. The two codes usually turn up on the same machine and should be treated as one problem.

- Transient control fault cleared by a reset
- Connector loosening as the cabinet warms
- Harness damage inside the cabinet
- Control board failing
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Start a timed dry cycle and watch for a minute, as Maytag suggests. If the code appears, remove power at the breaker for five minutes, restore it and try once more. Note whether the fault shows immediately on power-up or only once the cycle has been running, because an immediate fault suggests the board itself and a delayed one suggests a connection that fails as things warm up and expand.
