What Dashes in the display Means
A row of dashes in place of a time is not an error code. Maytag treats it as a display state and suggests resetting the controls if a cycle will not run, which places it with the minor control glitches rather than with faults.
Common Causes of Dashes in the display
- Display resting between cycles
- Cycle not selected or not started
- Transient control glitch
- Interface or control board fault
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Try starting a timed dry cycle first - if that runs, the dryer is fine and the dashes were simply the display between cycles. If nothing starts, switch the dryer off at the breaker for a minute, restore power and try again, monitoring for five minutes. If the display stays on dashes and no cycle will start, the control or the interface needs testing.
