What F5 E5 Means
F5 E5 is specific and unusually informative: the oven has not reached self-clean temperature after thirty minutes, and Maytag names the door hinges or the door gasket as the possible problem. A self-clean cycle needs a properly sealed door to reach its temperature, and a door that is not sealing lets the heat out faster than the elements can replace it.

- Door gasket torn, flattened or missing a section
- Door hinges worn so the door no longer seals
- Door not closing square against the frame
- Heating element underperforming
- Control not holding the clean temperature
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
With the oven cool, look along the door gasket for tears, flattened sections or gaps, and check whether the door sits square against the frame all the way round. A simple test is to close the door on a sheet of paper at several points and see whether it grips evenly; anywhere it pulls out easily is a place heat is escaping. Check the hinges too - a door that sags when open, or that needs a push to close the last centimetre, has hinge wear. Both gasket and hinges are replaceable parts.
