What ES or E5 Means
ES or E5 means Energy Save is active on models that have it. Maytag explains that the feature places the control and clock into a sleep mode which reduces power consumption by deactivating the display when the product is not being used. It is a setting, not a fault.
Common Causes of ES or E5
- Energy Save mode enabled on the control
- Mode activated accidentally
- Display sleeping normally between uses
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Nothing needs repairing. If you would rather keep the clock visible, the Energy Save feature can be switched off through the control, and the sequence is in the owner manual for your model. A blank display that wakes when you press a key is Energy Save doing its job; a display that stays blank when woken is a different matter and worth looking into.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- None - this is a settings mode.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
