What Demo Mode Means
Maytag is explicit about demo mode on a range: the feature is intended for use on the sales floor with a 120 V power connection, and it permits the control features to be demonstrated without the oven turning on. If demo mode is activated, the oven will not work. A range in demo mode looks perfectly healthy and simply never heats.

Check for demo mode before concluding anything is broken, particularly on a range bought as a display or floor model. The deactivation sequence varies by model, so use the instructions for yours. This is the single most useful thing to rule out on an oven that lights up, accepts settings, counts down and produces no heat at all, and it costs nothing to check.
