What Call Service, Feature Not Available or Fault Detected Means
Maytag documents two message families for ovens. Call Service, and Press Cancel to Reset, appear when a fault or error has been detected: press Cancel, and if Call Service remains, reset power and start a bake cycle. Feature Not Available or Fault Detected scrolls across the display when a fault is detected while programming a cook cycle, with the display itself saying whether to press Enter to try again or to disable power to clear.
Common Causes of Call Service, Feature Not Available or Fault Detected
- Transient fault cleared by pressing Cancel
- Control fault requiring a power reset
- A component fault reported through the control
- Control board failing
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Follow whichever instruction the display gives, since the oven chooses between them. Press Cancel first for a Call Service message, then a power reset at the breaker if it persists, then a bake cycle to verify. For the programming message, note which feature you were setting up when it appeared - a fault that only appears when programming one particular function is far easier to trace than a general complaint.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A wall oven is built into cabinetry and hard-wired, so it has to be unfastened and drawn out of its housing by a technician before anything inside can be reached.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
