What F36 or F37 Means
F36 and F37 carry different published meanings across the cooktop range. On electric and induction cooktops Maytag gives them as a possible problem with a temperature sensor on an induction coil. On radiant element cooktops F36 is published instead as a possible communication problem between the touch control module and the electronic control. The cooktop type decides which applies.
Common Causes of F36 or F37
- Induction coil temperature sensor failed
- Sensor wiring damaged by heat
- Communication fault between the touch module and the electronic control on radiant models
- Control module failing
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Switch off at the breaker for a minute and restore power, then test each cooking area on low and note which behave normally. On an induction cooktop, watch whether one specific zone misbehaves - a coil sensor fault usually shows on one zone rather than all of them. On a radiant cooktop, watch the panel instead, since the radiant meaning is about the control modules rather than the elements. Either repair is under the glass.
