A code on a display narrows the search – it does not end it. Maytag publishes a plain meaning for some codes and, for plenty of others, nothing beyond an instruction to cut power and try again. On top of that, a code naming a sensor is caused by the wiring to that sensor, a corroded connector or the board driving the circuit at least as often as by the sensor itself. Ordering the part a code names, without measuring, is how the same repair gets paid for twice.

We confirm the model and serial number, retrieve whatever the control has stored, then measure – resistance, continuity, voltage, real temperature – before deciding anything. You get the finding in plain language and a written figure, and nothing is repaired until you have said yes to it.
