What F6 Means
F6 reports that the oven could not execute the function, with the relay control board or the associated wiring named as the possible cause. It shares its attribution with F1E1, which is why both are read as switching-stage faults rather than problems with the panel or the sensors.
Common Causes of F6
- Transient fault cleared by a reset
- Relay board connector loose
- Relay failed or welded closed
- Wiring between boards damaged
- Relay control board failed
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Switch the microwave off at its circuit breaker for one minute, restore power, then run a short heating test with a cup of water to verify operation, which is the check Maytag asks for. If it heats normally afterwards, the fault was transient. If F6 returns, note which function you had selected and whether the appliance made any relay clicking sound when you pressed start, because a board that clicks but produces nothing differs from one that does nothing at all. Neither observation changes what you can do at home, but both shorten the diagnosis.
