What PF Means
PF records that the mains supply was interrupted partway through a wash. The washer is telling you why it stopped, not reporting a fault with itself. Maytag documents the recovery: touch and hold START to resume the cycle, or press POWER to clear the display and start fresh.
Common Causes of PF
- Genuine mains power cut during the cycle
- Plug not fully seated or a worn socket
- Circuit breaker tripping intermittently
- Extension lead or shared circuit dropping voltage under load
- Control board power supply failing
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Touch and hold START to pick the cycle up where it left off. If the load has been sitting wet for some hours, it is better to press POWER, select Rinse and Spin, and then run a full cycle again. If PF appears when there has been no power cut, look at the supply rather than the washer: a loose plug, a shared socket with something heavy on it, or a breaker that is tripping briefly under load. Repeated PF codes with a stable supply point at the control board.
