What F7EC Means
F7EC has a plain cause in Maytag documentation: the washer is overloaded. The drive cannot bring an over-full drum up to spin speed, so the control stops rather than straining the motor.
Common Causes of F7EC
- Too much laundry for the drum
- Heavy wet items such as bedding or towels
- Load bunched to one side
- Load-sensing circuit misreading
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Open the door and take out roughly a third of the load, especially heavy absorbent items such as towels, bedding and rugs which gain a lot of weight when wet. Redistribute what is left evenly around the drum, close the door and restart from a Drain and Spin so the remaining water leaves before the full spin. If the code appears on loads that are clearly modest, the load sensing or the drive is misreading and that warrants a diagnosis.
