What PF Means
PF records that the drying cycle was interrupted by a power failure. Maytag gives the recovery directly: touch and hold START to restart the cycle, or press POWER to clear the display. Nothing about the dryer itself is being reported as faulty.
Common Causes of PF
- Genuine mains interruption during the cycle
- Plug not fully seated or a worn outlet
- Breaker tripping briefly when the heater draws current
- Control board power supply failing
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Touch and hold START to resume the cycle. If the load has been sitting warm and damp for a while, it is better to press POWER, then run a fresh timed cycle so the clothes get proper airflow rather than finishing a stale cycle. If PF appears when there has been no power cut, look at the supply: a loose plug, a shared circuit, or a breaker tripping briefly under the heater load. Repeated PF codes with a stable supply point at the control.

- None - restarting the cycle is ordinary use.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
