What Locked, Lock or Loc on a Wall Oven Means
The lock feature shuts down the control pads and locks the oven door to prevent unintended use. Maytag notes it is preset unlocked but can be locked, and that the controls and door cannot be locked while the oven is in use. On a wall oven with no cooktop, a locked control is the whole appliance locked.
Common Causes of Locked, Lock or Loc on a Wall Oven
- Lock feature switched on deliberately
- Key held accidentally while cleaning the console
- A child pressing and holding a key
- Unlock key not held long enough
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Unlock through the sequence in your owner manual, holding the key steadily rather than tapping it. An oven whose controls appear completely dead while the clock still runs is very often simply locked, and on a built-in appliance that is well worth ruling out before booking a visit that would otherwise involve drawing the oven out of its cabinetry for nothing.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- None - this is a control feature. Never force a locked door.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
