What F1, F1-1, F1-2, F1-3, F1-H or F1-L Means
On a Maytag wall oven using the legacy code scheme, the whole F1 family is published as a possible problem with the oven temperature sensor, the control, or the associated wiring. The sensor is a thin probe mounted inside the cavity, and every temperature the oven reports depends on it.
Common Causes of F1, F1-1, F1-2, F1-3, F1-H or F1-L
- Oven temperature sensor out of tolerance or failed
- Sensor displaced against the cavity wall
- Sensor connector loose behind the oven
- Wiring damaged in the cabinet space
- Control not reading the sensor
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Press Cancel to clear the code, switch the oven off at its breaker for a minute, restore power, and start a bake cycle to see whether the code returns. On a built-in oven the useful home test is an oven thermometer: set 350F, let it stabilise for twenty minutes, and read the thermometer on the middle shelf. A reading twenty or thirty degrees off the set point confirms a sensor drifting out of tolerance, and that measurement is worth having before anyone visits, because it distinguishes a sensor problem from a complaint about baking results.

- A wall oven is built into cabinetry and hard-wired, so it has to be unfastened and drawn out of its housing by a technician before anything inside can be reached.
- Let the cavity cool completely before reaching inside.
