What Lights Flashing Means
Maytag documents a flashing dial or several flashing indicators as the machine reporting an out-of-balance load, particularly when the washer has stopped partway through a spin. It is the same family as the off-balance codes, shown on panels that use lights rather than a text display.
Common Causes of Lights Flashing
- Load bunched on one side of the basket
- A single bulky item washed alone
- Washer not level or a foot not touching the floor
- Worn suspension on an older machine
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Open the lid and redistribute the load in loose heaps around the washplate rather than one heavy lump. Balance a single bulky item - a rug, a jacket, one pair of jeans - with a few towels. Close the lid and press START/PAUSE to continue. If it happens on every load, check the machine is level and that all four feet sit firmly on the floor, because a washer that rocks cannot balance even a well-distributed load.
