What F1E3 Means
Maytag states that an F1E3 code indicates there may be an issue with the control unit or the associated wiring. It is a control-side fault rather than anything to do with heat or airflow.
Common Causes of F1E3
- Transient control fault cleared by a reset
- Harness connector loose or corroded
- Wiring chafed inside the cabinet
- Control board failing
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Touch POWER, select a timed dry cycle and see whether the dryer runs. If the code returns, take the power off at the breaker for five minutes and try again. Watch whether the display behaves normally when it comes back - flickering segments or a slow response to key presses point at the same wiring the code names. Beyond that reset there is nothing to adjust at home; the harness between the console and the control runs alongside mains terminals.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The console and its harness carry mains voltage.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
