What F6E3 Means
F6E3 means excessive suds, and Maytag asks directly whether there is foam or suds in the bottom of the dishwasher. This is the one code in the dishwasher set with a plain, user-fixable cause: foam interferes with the pump and the water sensing, so the machine stops rather than washing in it.

Open the door and look at the sump. If there is foam, the usual cause is hand dish soap in the detergent cup, far too much detergent for soft water, or a heavy spill of something soapy rinsed off a dish. Remove the foam, then run a rinse or short wash with no detergent at all - Maytag asks for a clean wash cycle - and repeat if foam is still forming. Afterwards use only automatic dishwasher detergent, and reduce the dose if your water is soft.
