Maytag Range F2 E-Series Codes (User Interface, Keypad or Control)

Maytag publishes this group with the same attribution: a possible problem with the user interface or keypad, the control, or the associated wiring. Note that F2 E1 is deliberately excluded here, because Maytag documents that one entirely differently.

What F2 E0, F2 E2, F2 E3, F2 E4, F2 E5 or F2 E6 Means

Maytag publishes this group with the same attribution: a possible problem with the user interface or keypad, the control, or the associated wiring. Note that F2 E1 is deliberately excluded here, because Maytag documents that one entirely differently.

Common Causes of F2 E0, F2 E2, F2 E3, F2 E4, F2 E5 or F2 E6

  • Grease or spills on the keypad
  • Keypad ribbon connector loose
  • Keypad failed
  • Control board failed
  • Wiring between keypad and control damaged

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try

Clean the control panel with a cloth wrung out in warm soapy water and dry it thoroughly, since keypad contamination is named among the causes. Press Cancel to clear the code, then switch the range off at its breaker for a minute, restore power, and start a bake cycle to see whether it returns. Press each key afterwards and note which respond. A single unresponsive key points at the keypad; a panel where nothing responds points at the control or the harness between them.

⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That

  • A range runs on a high-current circuit and its control sits behind a panel with live terminals.
  • On a gas range the burner and the gas connection share the space behind the console with the wiring.
  • Never spray cleaner directly at the console; liquid travelling behind it reaches the electronics.

Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
