What Locked, Lock or Loc Means
The lock feature shuts down the control pads and locks the oven door to prevent unintended use of the oven. Maytag notes that it is preset unlocked but can be locked, and that if the oven is currently in use, the controls and door cannot be locked. It is separate from the cooktop control lock on a range that has both.
Common Causes of Locked, Lock or Loc
- Lock feature switched on deliberately
- Lock key held accidentally while cleaning
- Child pressing and holding a key
- Unlock key not held long enough
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Unlock the oven control through the sequence in your owner manual, holding the key steadily rather than tapping it, since a sustained press is what the feature requires. A range whose oven controls appear completely dead while the clock still runs is very often simply locked, and this is worth ruling out before booking anything. If the door is locked as well, it releases with the control once the cavity is cool.
