What FBE1, FBE2 or FEE8 Means
These three codes appear in the Maytag range documentation without a published meaning. Rather than inventing a decode they do not have, they are recorded here as what they are: fault codes the customer-facing documentation lists but does not explain.
Common Causes of FBE1, FBE2 or FEE8
- Transient fault cleared by a reset
- Control or wiring fault the customer documentation does not detail
- Component fault reported through the control
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Press Cancel to clear the code, then switch the range off at its breaker for a minute, restore power, and start a bake cycle to see whether it returns. Since there is no published cause to work from, what you observe is the diagnosis. Note whether the oven heats at all, whether bake and broil behave differently, whether the cooktop and clock work, whether the door locks, and exactly when the code appears. A technician with the service documentation can decode these; the observations are what make the visit productive.

- A range runs on a high-current circuit and its control sits behind a panel with live terminals.
- On a gas range the burner and the gas connection share the space behind the console with the wiring.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
