What F0E5 Means
F0E5 is the numbered off-balance code. Maytag describes the symptom you will have noticed before the code appeared: the cycle ran longer than the display first promised, and the laundry is still dripping. The washer detected a sizeable unbalanced load, slowed the spin to stay safe, and eventually stopped trying.
Common Causes of F0E5
- A single bulky item washed alone
- Laundry bunched on one side of the basket
- Washer not level or rocking on its feet
- Bulky item washed on a cycle not intended for it
- Worn suspension on an older machine
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Open the lid and spread the load out evenly around the basket rather than leaving it heaped on one side. A single heavy item is the classic trigger, so pair a rug, a jacket or one pair of jeans with a few towels to balance it. Close the lid and press START/PAUSE to resume, and run a Drain and Spin afterwards if the load is still sodden. If every load trips this, check that all four feet are firmly on the floor and the machine does not rock when pushed at a corner, because an unlevel washer cannot balance even a good load.
