What F1E2 Means
Maytag lists F1E2 as a main control communication error. The main board and the part it is trying to talk to are not exchanging data, so the dishwasher stops rather than running a cycle it cannot supervise.
Common Causes of F1E2
- Transient communication fault cleared by a reset
- Connector between the control and the console loose
- Harness damaged where the door hinges flex
- Main control or interface board failed
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Reset the control by cutting power for thirty seconds - unplug the dishwasher if it is on an outlet, or switch off its breaker if it is hard-wired - then restore power and run a short cycle. Watch the first few minutes of the test cycle: a dishwasher that fills and then stops behaves differently from one that will not start at all, and that difference matters. If the code returns after the reset, the fault is in the wiring between the boards or in one of the boards themselves, neither of which is reachable without pulling the machine out from under the counter.
