What F8E2 Means
Maytag gives F8E2 as a fill valve electrical error, and directs you to remove the drip tray and inspect the inlet valve connection, making sure there are no leaks. The fill valve is the electrically operated tap that lets water into the tub.
Common Causes of F8E2
- Water leaking onto the fill valve terminals
- Valve solenoid coil failed
- Wiring to the valve corroded or loose
- Control output to the valve failed
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Remove the toe panel or drip tray at the bottom front of the dishwasher and look at the inlet valve where the water line connects. You are looking for water: drips, a damp patch, or mineral crust around the fitting, all of which suggest water has been reaching the valve electrics. If you find water, turn off the dishwasher supply valve under the sink before going further. If everything is dry, reset the control by removing power for thirty seconds - unplug the machine or switch off its breaker - then restore power and run a short cycle.
