What F3T2 Means
Maytag gives F3T2 as a possible problem with the convection thermistor or the associated wiring. It applies to models with a convection function, where a fan circulates heated air, and the thermistor tells the control what temperature that air has reached.
Common Causes of F3T2
- Transient fault cleared by a reset
- Thermistor connector loose
- Wiring heat-damaged near the convection heater

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Switch the microwave off at its circuit breaker for one minute, restore power, then run a short heating test with a cup of water to verify operation, which is the check Maytag asks for. Test the plain microwave function separately with a cup of water, because it usually works independently of the convection side, and knowing that narrows the fault before anyone visits. Avoid convection programmes until the thermistor is replaced - running convection without reliable temperature feedback means the control cannot regulate the heat properly.
