What Fd Means
Fd stands for Factory Default. It means the washer has been returned to the settings it left the factory with, so any options you had saved - preferred soil level, spin speed, temperature defaults, and on connected models the network setup - are back to standard. Nothing is broken; the machine is telling you its memory was cleared.
Common Causes of Fd
- Deliberate factory reset performed at the control panel
- A long power interruption clearing the stored settings
- Control board memory failing
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Set your preferred options again on the next cycle, exactly as you did when the machine was new. On a connected model you may also need to re-run the app pairing. If Fd appears repeatedly without anyone resetting the machine, the control is losing its stored settings, which usually means the control board memory is failing and is worth a diagnosis.
