What F9E1 Means
Maytag names F9E1 as a long drain and points you at the drain line, asking you to check it for kinks and to work through the drainage checks before resuming the cycle. The machine is draining, just far more slowly than the cycle allows.

- Drain hose kinked behind the machine
- Sump filter blocked with food soil

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Pull the drain hose gently where it runs behind the machine and look for a kink or a sharp bend, particularly if the dishwasher has been pushed back into the cabinet recently. Lift out the sump filter and rinse it under the tap - a filter packed with soil is the most common cause of slow draining. If the hose runs into a waste disposer, run the disposer for fifteen seconds to clear its inlet, and if it drains into a sink trap, check the trap is not blocked, since a slow-emptying kitchen sink and a slow-draining dishwasher usually share one cause.

- If the blockage is not in the filter, the hose or the disposer, the pump is under the tub and the machine has to be isolated and moved.
