What F1-5 or F1-8 Means
F1-5 and F1-8 are published together as a possible problem with the oven control, the user interface or keypad, or the associated wiring. Both the board and the panel are named, which is why they are diagnosed by test rather than by assumption.
Common Causes of F1-5 or F1-8
- Contamination on the keypad
- Keypad connector loose
- Keypad failed
- Oven control failed
- Wiring between them damaged
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Clean and dry the control panel first, since keypad contamination is named in the cause and costs nothing to rule out. Press Cancel to clear the code, then cut power at the breaker for a minute, restore it, and start a bake cycle to see whether the code returns. Then press each key and note which respond. A panel with one dead key points at the keypad; a panel where nothing responds points at the control or the connection between them.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A range is wired to a high-current circuit, and the control is behind a panel with live terminals.
- On a gas range the burner and gas connection sit in the same space as the control wiring.
