What F5 E0, F5 E1, F5 E2, F5 E3 or F5 E7 Means
Maytag publishes these five codes with one shared attribution: a possible problem with the oven door latch assembly - the main oven door latch on some of them - the door switch, or the associated wiring. They cover the mechanism that locks the door for self-cleaning and the switch that reports its position.
Common Causes of F5 E0, F5 E1, F5 E2, F5 E3 or F5 E7
- Latch motor failed or jammed
- Door switch failed
- Hinges worn so the door no longer meets the latch squarely
- Debris in the latch path
- Self-clean cycle interrupted
- Wiring to the latch damaged
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
If the door is locked, let the cavity cool completely first, because the latch is designed not to release while it is hot. Press Cancel to clear the code, then switch the range off at its breaker for a minute, restore power, and start a bake cycle to see whether it returns. Check the door closes square, that nothing is caught in the latch path, and that the hinges are not sagging. Never force a locked door. Note which code appeared and the current state of the latch when you book.

- A range runs on a high-current circuit and its control sits behind a panel with live terminals.
- Never force a locked oven door; you damage the latch and the door alignment together.
- A self-cleaned cavity stays dangerously hot long after the cycle ends.
