Range Repair, Done Right the First Time

Ranges reach us with two kinds of fault. The first is a single dead circuit: one burner, one element, one switch, one relay – straightforward to isolate and usually straightforward to repair. The second is a control complaint, where a code or an unresponsive panel makes the whole appliance look finished when the actual fault is a sensor, a latch switch or a connector that has cooked over years of heat cycling.

We read any stored codes the control offers, then measure the circuit the code points at instead of ordering the part it names – on cooking appliances a sensor code is caused by the wiring to the sensor as often as by the sensor itself. Gas and power are isolated and proven dead before a panel moves, and gas work is left with the technician rather than talked through over the phone.
